This WAS fun for me...I think I can honestly say it was my favorite birthday of my adult life thus far. I am wearing my princess crown as we speak (no I'm not).


You are notorious for being clumsy. Can you tell us a funny falling story?

There has been many a good clumsy moment in my day, but I think I set the pace of my teenage/adult life on my first day of high school. The bell rang to go to the next class, the halls were crowded, and I fell going up the stairs. At least it was an all girls school and there were no boys to be embarassed in front of.

Or maybe the time I fell playing Red Rover and broke my arm.

hahahahahahah. Innocent but barely. I get my hair cut every twoweeks from an Italian barber I've been going to since before most ofyou were born. Inexplicably, he calls me, and I answer to, "Sean."

How am I supposed to practice blue steel if I can't turn left? Butseriously, six or seven's pretty normal for an average weekday.

About a year ago, Stephane and I were drinking superpitchers at the(tragically) now-closed Cosmic Cantina at one of their outdoor tables. Why thank you, Cap'n! I can't take much credit for being the c-word, as I have my parents to thank for my limited height and perpetually 12-year-old face. But it always helps to say "I'm the baby, gotta love me."

I'm going to name some objects and I want to know if you think they're cute and why or why not:

Pandas: Of course they're cute. Have you ever seen a baby panda sneeze?

The World According to Garp is the best life-affirming book I've read recently. And Tina Fey's Bossypants is the best make-me-look-crazy-on-the-subway book I read recently (because I couldn't stop laughing, obv).

I didn't read it recently, but I hate The Alchemist. People love it, I do not.

I don't remember, but I'm going to guess that I was either playing kickball or talking to Molly. Those two things take up 90% of my time.

I'm going to have to plead the fifth on this one. You caught a lot of balls at last week's game helping you gain this MVP status.

Do you think what you ate for lunch helped?

Absolutely. A good diet can really give you the explosive bursts of energy that it takes to win, while a bad one can have you feeling gassed after a long day of work.

What did you eat for lunch on the day of April, 14 2011?

A salad, with carrots, cucumbers, cut shredded cheese, cut diced tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, and vinaigrette dressing.

Where are you right now?

Amazing. She's a multifaceted individual, and you don't really know her until you've grabbed an evening drink at a bar with her, bumped into her at the gym, or see her play Super Mario Bros. 3.

You wore a ton of NYCSSC shits last week..all at one time. Which one is your favorite and why?

I've got two that are tied for my favorite. Black, because that was my first real NYCSSC team, Back in Black: Sex Panthers by Odeon. I was the captain and even though we didn't make the playoffs, we somehow came in second place. I also love light green because it was from my first kickball team, lushes, which was a poorly-named precursor to WOLWSB.

Do you like turtles?

Only if they're teenage and mutant. Donatello was my favorite, and he also happened to wear purple. Coincidence? Maybe.

Depends on the bug, but generally no. Here are some bugs that I do like: lady bug, firefly, the tick (animated, live action, and comic book), the praying mantis from Kung Fu Panda, and Jiminy Cricket.

I'm very honored to have gained this coveted MVP status for the second time. In the beginning of my kickball career, it was touch and go. However, based on last games performance, I may have to go pro!!!!

Just to beat the crap out of the Maroon team!!!! Hitting the guy in the balls was added bonus.....

Are you planning on having a dramatic moment like that at every game?

I plan on it!!! Maybe not pegging the ball, in the balls part:) My goal isn't to be on the shit list of all the guys in the league.

Yes! David the ref. On St. Pattys day, David and I had conversation about hair maintenance/products. It turns out the David and I use the same products!! Could u believe.... For the remainder of the night David gave me tips on how to manage my locks. Strangest/funniest conversation I ever had with a man!!

AMAZING! I am so honored that my WOLWSB debut started off with me earning the honor of co-MVP. Definitely one of my top accomplishments!

How did you feel when you put on your purple shirt last night?

Proud to be wearin purple!!

You basically slid into homeplate last night...on a blacktop court. did you ever think you would have to scarifuce your body so much for the sport of kickball?

I was not anticipating how physically grueling kickball is...i am definitely bring knee pads next game...maybe even wrist guards, just to be safe.

What was your most memorable part of the evening?

Besides the epic homeplate slide, my most memorable part of the evening was at the pourhouse when somehow between the dancing & flip cup I lost my phone in all of the excitment but some good kickball cemaertine returned it to me :) (FYI - the good cemaertine was definitely not wearing a maroon shirt)

You recently had a chili cook off in your apartment. Thank you. Did you feel ok the next day?

Surprisingly yes, in fact it actually help finally kill the 4 Loko hangover from Thursday night.

Chili is a mix of many things that when put together taste amazing and trick the senses. I relate this back to WOLWSB. You are an amazing kickball player (don't let this go to your head). Where do you think your main strength lies? In your arms or in your legs?

Trick question it comes from the heart (and pre-drinking at Boss Tweeds with "Brooklyn")

You're WOLWSB official 3rd baseman. I think that is the hardest position to play. Ok...now you have to answer.

Are you kidding me it is the most fun! I get to look like I am doing a lot but in fact I just run around in a circle every play and toss the ball to Danny, Stephane, or Evan once a game.

When did you realize you were tall?

It was either the first time I hit my head on the ceiling when running down the stairs to my parents basement or when I passed the 6 foot mark when I was only 12.

You are a packaging engineer. Impressive. You package food! In fact...you package the greatest macaroni and cheese ever made. That is a ton of responsibility. Step by step...describe how you would package a kickball?

First I would open up Google News to see the current world news, then I would check Facebook and the WOLWSB Blog for any interesting updates. Once I had time to fully absorb all of that information I would walk down to the shipping and receiving dock and select a pre-made corrugated box and erect it by hand, then I would place the ball in the box and tape both sides. After that was complete I would head back to my cube all the while admiring my awesome package.

Definitely the Burberry socks because Jason's mother gave them to me as a gift after a romantic weekend in the Hampton's

MVP "Monday"

So you’re the MVP of an undefeated kickball team. You must be really good. What would you say your strongest kickball skill is?
Well, my most common field position is pitcher. It's where I feel I can contribute the most, and I've learned that if I beg enough times, that's where I'll get placed. People expect me to pitch really fast based on my looks, so when it's a slow ball, they're always thrown off. Probably why WOLWSTB is in the playoffs this season.

I've also tried my hand in reffing this season... needless to say, I'll leave that position to the pros.

I you could kick balls in any shirt color, what color would you pick?

You were the Morton Salt girl for Halloween (it was so cute). Salt really does add a little extra...I don’t know what to food. What is your favorite spice?
I've actually recently joined the mayor's campaign against salt - it should only be used on the roads, or tequila shots with Papa Nick.

My favorite spice is cinnamon. I'm sensitive.

so, how does it feel to win, but not really win, MVP for the week?
it actually feels great! some might think this is a backhanded way to give an honorable mention. but i say NAY, NO, HELLZ NA. i've always wanted to be interviewed for a blog and i can't think of a better way to get my first interview! my shuffle run was smart and effective.


what does safety mean to you?
safety means happiness. if you don't fall and bust your face, you're happy. if you don't get punched in the groin, you're happy...catch my drift?

how come you're so good at kickball?
i think it's because i was so bad at running and gym class in high school...i was clearly saving all of my energy for my future kickball team.

i actually LOVE the rain but playing kball in the rain clearly makes me nervous hence my shuffle run.

MVP Monday

Since we did not get to play a real game last week there was no MVP. That made me really sad because I love MVP Monday! The only things I look forward to at work on Mondays are lunch and the MVP interview. So I decided we should have a guest MVP and the honor went to Aaron! So you work for the league fulltime. Any insider secrets you can divulge?
Geez, just digging right in…No buttering up, huh? Well, Brett is currently drinking water out of a Jameson bottle. Matt has an authentic Peruvian wool mask watching to make sure we’re always working. We’re known to throw bouncy balls at each other, though they must bounce of a wall first (obviously). And if you’re looking to bribe the office staff, our current list of office needs are 1) iPads, 2) Honda Motor-Butts, 3) a Crepe Chef + cookery, and 4) Hypoallergenic Perma-Kittens.

You’re MVP of the third place team in Thursday kickball and you’re not even on the team! That’s quite the accomplishment! How do you feel?
Honored and humbled. In fact, I’d like to thank my terrific modesty for getting me where I am today. But seriously, it was fun barging into your game and thanks to Faye for picking me first for the scrimmage-winning team.

WOLWSB is well on their way to possibly winning an actual medal. We already won bar champs last season. What would you rather win? First place or bar champ?
I am clearly an uber-testosterony alpha male who puts winning above all else. However, people have told me that the friendships earned while becoming Bar Champs will be around well after my body is no longer a prime example of pure athleticism.

If you could wear any NYCSSC tee shirt color for the rest of your life, what color would you choose?
I’m quite the fan of sapphire and purple. Clearly indicating my vain desire to be royalty. The new cedar and (of course) texas orange are growing on me though, perhaps harkening back to my rural upbringing.

I know you have a lot of power. Can we get rid of the name heliconia and call it what it is? Princess pink?
You’ve gotta be careful spending your favors in that way. I mean, do you really want to gain the name princess pink, just to be stuck with sapphire* shirts for the rest of your career.

*Note: the term sapphire has been used for dramatic impact and should be assumed to take the place of any horrible colors including &#*, !@^%, @$#@&, or ^*!$%

You know Microsoft word does not even recognize the word heliconia?
As a proud Mac user, I have given up acknowledging Microsoft as my intellectual standard. Although, I am writing this answer in Word and there is a red squiggly under heliconia.

WOLWSB is having a tough time deciding what sport to partake in during the cold winter months. Any suggestions? And why?
I frequent the Ultimate Frisbee field, but Inner Tube Water Polo has become one of my favorite sports. If the cold or swimming suits aren’t your thang, Bowling @ Brooklyn Bowl is an amazing experience, though big group debauchery is most likely to occur after Dodgeball & Volleyball. Don’t know if that helps or not, but I’ve been trying to decide the same thing!

What do you prefer? Boss Tweeds or Aces (RIP)?
I prefer a bar that is willing and able to treat us as the VIP party crowd that we are. One where the beer and 80’s dance music flow freely and where the cups are always placed half off the edges of the tables.

Halloween is right around the corner! What has been your best Halloween costume?
Once I dressed as a grey-haired old man. A grey-haired old woman with a walker and a colostomy bag hit on me. It was H-O-T-T.

Happy to be part of the team that doesn’t know anything about either, but I used to have a cat named Ed. And I have a cousin named Jake. Ah, the pressure to decide is killing me!

First base with P. Nick on third – Dick and Nanny, closin’ out them innings! I also like to play back off the base a little so I can help out in right field and 2nd base coverage.

Obviously, I think everyone does. Which super power would you like to have and why? Well picking one super power would be a little silly. I would like to be comparable to a character. I would like, but not limited to, to be these characters (for their powers, not storyline): Nightcrawler (but not blue or with a tail), Omega-Level Ice Man, Galactus, or just cheat and become Peter Patrelli from Heroes. While on the topic of Heroes, I wouldn’t mind being like Hiro Nakamura either. Also, just to up my badassery, I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a Black Power Ring.
